UBIQ 34 is an office complex located in an old, military barracks district in the city center of Poznan. Entire area, together with Building A, was listed on the register of historic monuments. Construction works covered refurbishment and adaptation of Building A, and construction of new Buildings: B and C. Renewed Building A comprise 2 functional zones: services (restaurant) and office. In Building B offices, technical rooms and underground parking are located. Building C is prepared to host conferences, exhibitions and intermedia shows.
The building’s locations were chosen in a way to minimize the interference with existing greenery. Historical structures and old trees, combined with newly designed buildings and the newest technological solutions create an unique atmosphere of the complex. After the refurbishment, the military barrack meets the requirements of a contemporary user. The authentic beauty of the old barrack is highlighted. Meanwhile, Building B, designed as a class A office, consist of two wings of a different height. Thus, the outdoor terraces creates an unwinding zone for its users. Glass structure of Building C brings in the sense of tranquility.
Carefully planned internal courtyard is functionally linking all the buildings, allowing easy communication between them. There are underground and outdoor parking places located conveniently. The ramp to the underground parking is located in the front.
Handmade brick, as a direct reference to the Builing A original façade, is a dominant material of the complex. Elements of new structures are built in aluminum and glass. This contemporary materials play an important role in the design, bringing a modern spirit, coexisting in harmony with the traditional architectural tissues. .
